Summary/Best Practices

Be aware of the cutoff and last pickup times at all locations, but especially at retail drop-off points like Dollar General and Walgreens, and at locations in the western United States. Last pickup can be as early as 11 am! At drop off, ask if FedEx has already picked up for the day (regardless of the time). To find drop-off locations near you, see https://www.fedex.com/en-us/shipping/drop-off-package.html

If your package includes RUSH samples (3 HR, 4 HR, or 6 HR), please write RUSH on the outside to help move your samples through the login process as quickly as possible.

Never reuse a shipping label. Not only does FedEx view reusing a shipping label as fraudulent, but reusing a tracking number makes it impossible to intervene and find a missing package. The system will show the package was delivered as expected, leaving us without any recourse to locate it.

How Do I Make a SanAir Shipping Label?

Where do I go to make a label to send samples to SanAir?

To make a FedEx label for shipping your environmental samples, visit our website www.sanair.com/shipping/ or click the red Shipping button on the homepage of our website www.sanair.com.

Why am I unable to see a PDF of the labels I have created?

Be sure to disable pop-up blockers in your browser settings.

Clear your browser cache (Ctrl+Shift+Delete or Cmd+Shift+Delete).

Refresh the page https://sanair.com/shipping/ and create your label.

Check the download area of your browser to find it if the PDF does not automatically open.

Why do I need my unique, four-digit SanAir client number to make FedEx labels?

SanAir’s proprietary sample login method tracks each client’s sample package from delivery to reporting using a unique, four-digit client ID. If you have forgotten your client ID, contact support@sanair.com.

Which office should I send my samples to?

At the current time, SanAir provides shipping to our Cincinnati, Ohio, and Richmond, Virginia (N. Chesterfield) offices. Our Cincinnati SanAir location can analyze asbestos PCM, PLM, and TEM samples. SanAir’s Richmond lab can analyze Asbestos, Microbiology, Lead/Metals, and Materials samples. If specific state licensing/certification/accreditation is required for your project, please email support@sanair.com or call (888) 895-1177 and ask for Support or Sales.

What Do I Need to Know About Packaging My Samples?

Make sure to include your Chain(s) of Custody (COC). Cardboard FedEx envelopes are only good for shipping paper. If you use a cardboard envelope to ship air cassettes or any non-flat material, your samples will almost certainly rip through the envelope in shipping and get lost.

A FedEx Reusable Pak can be a better option, but they lack rigidity. If you have loose air cassettes or samples floating in the bag, they can still get the Pak wrapped around the sorting equipment. By bundling a larger number of samples together (ideally in bubble wrap taped closed), you will have the best chance of your samples arriving intact with COCs.

Tape the FedEx shipping label down securely on all four sides, or make sure the clear plastic sleeve is anchored at all four corners to avoid label transfer in transit. Putting an address on the package is another good idea, in case the label becomes separated from the package in transit. FedEx does have a lost and found, and an address on the package provides a chance that it can be retrieved.

There is no need to write the types of samples enclosed. It does not speed up the login process.

Sometimes, in spite of doing everything correctly, a package will get lost in transit (FedEx moves approximately 17 million packages a day). In those rare and unfortunate cases, SanAir cannot reimburse clients for the work or contents of lost FedEx packages. Notify support@sanair.com immediately if your package is overdue or does not seem to be moving as expected. Early intervention is our best opportunity to recover samples that are not on track for Priority Overnight delivery. For more information, please see the Terms and Conditions on our website.

Occasionally, FedEx expands to Priority Overnight commit to noon before holidays. To stay abreast of delivery time changes, visit https://www.fedex.com/en-us/service-guide/money-back-guarantee.html.
